When it comes to something as important as your precious eyesight, you want the highest level of care possible. And that’s just what you’ll get with Dr. Reichert. After earning his medical degree at the University of Florida College of Medicine, he went on to complete residency training in ophthalmology at Duke University Eye Center. Dr. Reichert’s advanced training also includes an internship at Boston University and externship at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital in London, England.

In 1989, Dr. Reichert realized the need for surgical and medical eye care in and around Lake City, which led him to build the area’s first outpatient surgery center. Over the years, Dr. Reichert was first to bring laser surgery to the area with the first YAG laser, argon laser and diode laser. He was also the first to perform cornea transplants.

This helps Dr. Reichert accurately detect eye disease or other abnormalities early, often before they present any symptoms. Early detection in many cases can lead to treatments that will prevent vision loss. Dr. Reichert will explain every step of the process clearly so that you have a complete understanding of your eye health. Some of the advanced testing methods used at The Cataract & Laser Center include digital retinal photography, GDx Access™ nerve fiber analyzer, corneal topography, optical coherence tomography and computerized visual field testing.
